Little Maggie is out of the hospital. We were discharged this afternoon much to our happiness. Our experience with this surgery has been really wonderful, I couldn’t have asked for much more. The prayers and support we have received has been tremendous, the doctors and nurses at this hospital just blew us away. And now we are back with our family of 6 and enjoying our dynamic again.
Our focus now is pain control, monitoring for infections and fever, continued eating, pooping and peeing. With Maggie I am having to relearn her signals. She has never had this type of pain before and she can’t communicate it to me. This is something I have taken for granted in my adult life, the ability to tell people “IT HURTS HERE AND IF YOU TOUCH ME AGAIN, I’M GONNA GET ANGRY”. Her voice is raspy and deeper because of being intubated, and it’s harder to tell the difference in her cries. Sad, tired, hungry, in pain… so we just try everything until we figure it out.
This is going to be a tiring week. Maggie is going to have to be patient with us and we are going to have to be patient with ourselves and hopefully by the end of the week she won’t be in terrible pain and we will see her get back to the normal routine. Next week she will have the bandages removed and then she will get fitted for her helmet.
How far we have come since the second blog post. I say we because this isn’t just Maggie’s journey, or our family’s but it’s all of you too. We all prayed for the right doctors and we found them. The Lord is taking us all on the pilgrimage. Our family was given this beautiful cross of finding healing for Maggie but you all have willingly come along and picked up Maggie and our whole family and journeyed with us. All proof of what Jesus says, His yoke is easy and burdens, light.
Thank you for sharing ur journey so we can enter in and ride with you. We r here to help so plz do not hesitate to voice ur needs for often I’m pretty clueless. I’d love to help coordinate meals and childcare if that would help. Plz feel free to reach out to us. We will be waiting and praying with u.
