Healings Left and Right

In January we asked for your prayers that Maggie’s prospective surgery be taken off the table. And as of yesterday, it’s off! Our opthalmologist confirmed what we had noticed, Maggie’s eyes are doing amazingly better. Our course of action now is to eye to strengthen her weaker eye. It will be 4 months of 4-6 hours eye patches a day (if you have any tips, send them my way).

With this news I figure its time to share a little bit more about this story, because there is a bit more background.

For the last 3 years Carlos has been learning more about the Lord’s healing power through Encounter Ministries https://encounterministries.us/ and at the beginning of January we did a virtual retreat with them. We took time as a family to sit and listen to Catholic priests and laity speak to God’s will and how it is always for our good and always directed towards healing; physical, spiritual, emotional.

On the last evening we sat as a family and prayed for healing for different things and in a particular way we all prayed for Maggie’s eyes. As the night proceeded, someone spoke in Michigan with a word of knowledge that a little girl with crossed eyes would experience healing that evening. Carlos and I were dumbfounded. We looked at Maggie and we saw a definite change in her eyes. Where her right eye would normally pull in and up, it showed real improvement. We prayed in thanksgiving, but within the hour I began to doubt. “Am I making this up? Am I just seeing what I want to see?” Carlos reassured me and encouraged me that I was not being irrational. Over the next few days it became obvious that something changed. Maggie’s spatial awareness and coordination improved to the point that she was more comfortable moving on her bottom than scooting on her back, by the second week she was pulling herself to standing and cruising along the furniture with confidence and ease. To me it was an indication that her depth perception greatly improved, or any double vision was greatly reduced or healed. I just didn’t have medical proof of change, until yesterday.

Lord, you are good, and although I don’t understand the why, how and when of things that happens, I do see the love that you pour out and offer everyday. Please increase my capacity to receive all that you want to give and open my eyes to all you want to do.
